If you’re driving a rental vehicle or coming from southern Belize, we can also meet between 8:00–9:00 AM at the intersection near Beng’s Supermarket in Teakettle Village.
Drive Time: Approximately 1.5 hours through the scenic Belizean countryside.
Stop: Short convenience stop for snacks, supplies, or guest pick-ups.
Upon arrival at Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve, you’ll gear up with helmets and begin a 45-minute jungle hike to the cave entrance. The trail includes three stream crossings (knee to waist-deep) with rope assistance at the first crossing.
At the cave mouth, you’ll swim across a cool, spring-fed pool and enter a mystical underground world of tunnels, passageways, and chambers.
Inside the cave, you will:
Use hands and feet to carefully navigate rock formations.
Climb a 12-foot ladder to access The Cathedral chamber.
Pass through low-ceiling sections (no crawling required).
Walk barefoot or in socks to protect the delicate limestone floors.
In The Cathedral, witness:
